New Year's Blues

Texture: Kim Klassen

I hope you all had wonderful Christmas Holidays and a fantastic start into the New Year!

The days before Christmas were more than chaotic at work and seemingly have robbed me of the rest of energy I had. I paid the price, but learning the lesson is not so easy... The days between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve I spent with sleeping and eating and more sleeping and a few walks in between.

I had put my hope into the start of the New Year - a new beginning, with drive and energy, tackling all things in a stride, beginning new projects, trying out new things, taking courses, finding a word for the year 2012, things you see everywhere in blogging world... well, against my better judgement, as you may guess. I woke up yesterday morning and things were just the same, same me - what a surprise, ha...

How do you manage to see the new beginning, the fresh start, the wonderful projects in 2012 and how do you handle all that?

For her Creative Exchange today, Lisa asked us to show our favourite photo of 2011. I really don't know if this is my favourite photo, but it spoke to me today.

That is a gorgeous picture of the leaves - the light hitting them is wonderful. Well caught.
I start the New Year with high ideas and full of good intentions. I really think you have to have a plan to follow. Somebody told me if you put write it down on paper it is easier to achieve. Maybe I should try that.
Hope things seem clearer for you soon.

I don't know how some people can immediately change all their habits, start afresh, begin anew by the flip of the calendar. I think we all begin each New Year with high hopes, the only thing we can do is try. Love your pick of the year...I posted mine before I read Lisa's post, so I cannot say that my pic is my fav of last year, especially since it was taken today. Have a very good year ahead, go easy on yourself.

You absolutely must find a way for some "me time" Sweetheart, even if only to start with a few minutes a day, and even if just to sit and "be." I know how chaotic a job can be, but just setting aside some time for you can be a really good start for your 2012.

This is an absolutely beautiful photograph. So peaceful, and the light is just gorgeous.

Thank you so very much for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

Have a wonderful evening!

P.S. I am sorry for the preaching. It's the Mom in me!! :-)

This is beautiful. My challenge this year is to see the glass have full which is tough for me. I am writing down three things I am grateful for each day, what about dong something like that?

*sigh*

I echo what Deanna has said.

I think we all would like to be better people, whatever that it -- and New Year's seems to be the time to make improvements.

But, I think most of the people I have connected with are good people and major changes are not necessary. Maybe just some tweaks here and there.

Get some rest, dear Rosie. Big hugs to you. xoxo

I know what you mean about the busyness of the holidays taking a lot out of folks. I hope that you can find the time to re-group..... sometimes all it takes is a little time.
I do like your photo choice! That would be a fav of mine, as I love the light and simplicity of this capture!
Wishing you a wonderful 2012!
Take care.

The colors of your leaves speak to me!

Your new beginnings don't have to be all at the same time. As they say, one day at a time (and I need to remember this too!)

I wish you a blessed 2012!

Oh yes.. We do fall into that trap don't we! When I was younger I would always say I was going to exercise more and eat right in the New Year.. Still hasn't happened. So I quit saying that years ago. I do hope you find your Balance in the New Year.. I do love seeing your photos my friend. And this one is lovely...

Hugs, Linda

I think that you actually accomplished a lot over Christmas! In our house the period between Christmas and New Year is definitely reserved for eating and sleeping, particularly sleeping. In our busy world it has become a luxury! So forget the goals and to do list and sleep away!!!!

Rosie, how I have missed visiting your lovely blog! The little pig with the striped feet is too cute and the light shining through the leaves is simply delightful!

It is hard to get inspired each day; it's more of a conscious decision. For me, I am starting a new life moving back to my home town in Baton Rouge, so that makes it easier for me. Since I am cooped up in a one bedroom apt with my mother temporarily, I plan to get out with my camera often and recapture memories.

I hope 2012 brings you lots of inspiration, creativity and blessings!!!

Hey Rosie-
Sounds like you and I spent that time between the holidays the same way. When I found myself sleeping 9-10 hours nightly, I realized how hard I've been pushing-mentally and physically.
I too find this time of year kind of "blue". I see all this chatter about picking a word, new challenges, trying new things, but me...I think I'm just going to keep bumbling along. It's like your birthday, blessedly you don't feel any different the day after-no older, no wiser.
Hang in there friend. I like the image you selected as favorite. it feels warm and sunny which is very nice to see this time of year.
Happy New Year Rosie.

Hope you're having a restful weekend and things are calming down for you. It's so hard when the energy is depleted....thinking of you.
