Creative Exchange

Today I tried something new, something I've always wanted to try, and what better opportunity with a theme like Justine's "Movement in March" and Lisa's Creative Exchange to give it a go.

I'm sure you know those pictures of flowing waters that look so dreamy and a bit like cotton candy... I opted for that. I grabbed my tripod and went to a little creek nearby. The result isn't quite what I had in mind but I was having a lot of fun trying all sorts of settings. I adjusted the levels a bit and then cropped it into a square - inspired by Kat's "Exploring with a Camera". The perfectionist in me was debating whether to post a photo I'm not quite satisfied with... but, well, here it is.

Have a wonderful and safe start into the week!

you should be satisfied with this shot it is wonderful, you have captured the movement of the water perfectly and I love how the top is in focus with all that lovely green, it really is a great shot. I am not doing very well with movement this month!

Hiya Rosie,

You seem to have gotten the same effect you get when you play around with shutter speed.
But I can never remember if the speed has to be faster or slower to get the blurry water effect :-)
Your method is safer.

Wonderful - you did a great job! Give yourself a day or two then come back to it, and I bet you will love it as much as we do. Thanks so much for trying out the square format and linking in to Exploring with a Camera!

Love it! The color adds so much, too. I am trying to do something for both of those themes, as well. Generally, I have a Creative Exchange idea, but not today! Maybe later.

Well, whatever it is you're complaining about in the photo, I like it.
The photo - not the complaint.

Thanks for joining Fridge Soup. FS doesn't return the favour, only individual members do.
Have fun.

I think it looks wonderful. I am really hoping that I learn how to do this too.

It looks like your experiment was a success!

You are too hard on yourself. This is brilliant! Love everything about it. I have yet to get that really milky look to moving water. You normally need a high stop ND filter and a long shutter speed. Oh and lots of attempts and patience!! :)

I've been waiting for warmer weather to get out & try that smoky water effect... I just found out how to do it this winter.
I don't know how you got that look, but yours is really neat, too! =)

Oooh Rosie, I'm glad you shared this. I like the abstract feel of it and the beautiful colours. One thing I like about the Creative Exchange is-it comes from your heart and not that perfectionist place in your/my/our heads.
Lovely image.

I know what you mean and I have tried that sometimes but never been satisfied but let's try until we get it:)
I like that even it is not what you want and to have fun what photographing is all about, right!?

This is beautiful! The water almost looks like ghostly fog or smoke gently drifting. Definitely a big thumbs up from me! :)
