Today I tried something new, something I've always wanted to try, and what better opportunity with a theme like Justine's "Movement in March" and Lisa's Creative Exchange to give it a go.
I'm sure you know those pictures of flowing waters that look so dreamy and a bit like cotton candy... I opted for that. I grabbed my tripod and went to a little creek nearby. The result isn't quite what I had in mind but I was having a lot of fun trying all sorts of settings. I adjusted the levels a bit and then cropped it into a square - inspired by Kat's "Exploring with a Camera". The perfectionist in me was debating whether to post a photo I'm not quite satisfied with... but, well, here it is.
Have a wonderful and safe start into the week!

you should be satisfied with this shot it is wonderful, you have captured the movement of the water perfectly and I love how the top is in focus with all that lovely green, it really is a great shot. I am not doing very well with movement this month!
Are you kidding (not quite satisfied)????
This is gorgeous Rosie!!
It may not be what you wanted, but I think it is truly a work of art. i love it, and I hope you have it on FLickr so I can favorite it!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this today at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful rest of the day Rosie!
lisa.
Wow! It looks like a painting. A really beautiful painting!
Hiya Rosie,
You seem to have gotten the same effect you get when you play around with shutter speed.
But I can never remember if the speed has to be faster or slower to get the blurry water effect :-)
Your method is safer.
Lovely image! It looks like wonderfully clear water.
Wonderful - you did a great job! Give yourself a day or two then come back to it, and I bet you will love it as much as we do. Thanks so much for trying out the square format and linking in to Exploring with a Camera!
Perfect shot. It does look dreamy!
Thanks for the compliment. You have some great work on this blog.Nice photo. I like to see what my little camera will do too. Sometimes the shots really surprise you!
Love it! The color adds so much, too. I am trying to do something for both of those themes, as well. Generally, I have a Creative Exchange idea, but not today! Maybe later.
That's a wonderful shot, Rosie! Isn't it exciting to try new things? You're inspiring me!
Awesome, Rosie and it never hurts to step out bravely and try something new and share it with your friends.
Amazing! Reminds me of gossamer.
I love that....so whimsical
Well, whatever it is you're complaining about in the photo, I like it.
The photo - not the complaint.
Thanks for joining Fridge Soup. FS doesn't return the favour, only individual members do.
Have fun.
I think it looks wonderful. I am really hoping that I learn how to do this too.
It looks like your experiment was a success!
You are too hard on yourself. This is brilliant! Love everything about it. I have yet to get that really milky look to moving water. You normally need a high stop ND filter and a long shutter speed. Oh and lots of attempts and patience!! :)
Well I am so glad you posted it.. It look wonderful..
The resulting image is really beautiful! I love the colours and ghostly feel to it.

Glad you posted it! Really neat photo. I didn't even realize it was water at first.
This is gorgeous, I would be so happy with it. I love it!
very cool.
I love the flow and I want to go to the dam now or somewhere and try this! I just posted a square photo today as well! I love them.
I've been waiting for warmer weather to get out & try that smoky water effect... I just found out how to do it this winter.
I don't know how you got that look, but yours is really neat, too! =)
Oooh Rosie, I'm glad you shared this. I like the abstract feel of it and the beautiful colours. One thing I like about the Creative Exchange is-it comes from your heart and not that perfectionist place in your/my/our heads.
Lovely image.
I know what you mean and I have tried that sometimes but never been satisfied but let's try until we get it:)
I like that even it is not what you want and to have fun what photographing is all about, right!?
This is beautiful! The water almost looks like ghostly fog or smoke gently drifting. Definitely a big thumbs up from me! :)
WOW Rosie- that came out really beautiful!!
I think it's so much fun to just play with settings on my camera. This is a great effect. Love the ghostly appearance.
You should be happy with this, Rosie- it's stunning! It looks whispery and ethereal almost like mist.
I think it looks beautiful. Very dream like.
Oh wow! That is great!
Oh wow! I had no idea what it was until I read your post. This is fantastic!
This is absolutely amazing - proof you can do amazing things when you start experimenting.
Love it! Makes me want to go find some moving water and takes some photos too.
